Sutton Brook

Only 30 minutes drive away from Stoke on Trent, Fenton & District own just over two miles of this prime trout stream. Regularly stocked with brown trout by the membership this water is fast recovering from the building of the new A50 bypass which crosses it. The water sustains its own natural head of chub to around 6 pounds along with grayling, dace and barbel. As with all waters controlled by Fenton a no fish to be removed policy applies which means that as time passes the natural head of trout increases. Unusually for a northern stream Sutton brook fishes best with the dry fly and the usual hatches throughout the spring and summer are supplemented by an annual two week long explosion of mayfly. Fenton and district have a hard core membership of trout anglers who fish this water almost every day throughout the spring and summer and any new member, after being asked to show his license will often find advice and even free tuition will be offered.
