River Churnet
The society`s stretch of the river Churnet is just a stones throw from
Alton Towers and set among some very picturesque countryside. Although
this water has suffered from pollution incedents in recent years it
has begun to recover again following some quite heavy stocking by the
Environment Agency and other local clubs. Rather similar to Sutton Brook
light tackle and stealth are the order of the day on the Churnet where
often the best policy is to walk the water stalking fish rather than
waiting for them to come to you. Stocked recently with grayling and
brown trout as well as the ever present chub this water can provide
a good days sport particularly during the late spring and summer months.
