Black Lake

Black Lake near Fulford is so called because of the colour of its water, even in spring and summer the pool looks uninviting yet holds quite a good head of roach and crucian carp. Light tackle is the order of the day here although there are plenty of sub surface snags to catch out the angler. Certainly in summertime anglers tend to be harassed by the large number of pike in this water and it often pays to set up two sets of tackle, one for light float fishing and another with a small floating plug - ready for when the fishing suddenly goes quiet or you see a couple of pike lurking around your keepnet.
