WARNINGFISHING NEAR TO OVERHEAD POWER LINESThere is a serious risk of electrocution when fishing near to overhead electrical power lines and this risk is greater when using carbon fibre rods or poles. Certain venues used by members of this Society are affected by such overhead electrical power lines and these include: the Trent & Mersey Canal, the Overflow Complex at Sideway, White House Farm Ashley, The Rivers Dove and Churnet and Sutton Brook. Any angler fishing within 30 metres of an overhead electrical power line is at risk of electrocution and the Society has therefore banned all fishing within 30 metres of such an electrical power line, except on the Trent & Mersey Canal from Trentham (Wedgewoods) Lock to the bottom lock at Meaford where the power lines also run parallel to the towing path. In this instance, the Society has banned the use of all rods or poles exceeding 4 metres. When using this venue however the Society recommends all members should ensure that the rod or pole is never allowed to be within 3 rod lengths of the power line. Whilst the Society has used its best endeavours to ensure that the attention of all members has been drawn to the dangers of electrocution and has erected signs at some venues, the Society will not accept any liability for a member or any other person who suffers injury or causes damage as a result of fishing within the proximity of an overhead electrical power line. SEVERE PENALTIES WILL BE IMPOSED ON ANY MEMBER WHO DISOBEYS THE RULES OF THE SOCIETY
